Here are some examples of Faux slo-mo videos i have found
Weekend Project- Fake Slow Motion from Sam Morrill on Vimeo.
Weekend Project- Sam Morrill.
This video was well made in the terms it actually looks as it has been slowed down via editing.
The short storyline is simple yet effective, the shots were extremely simple too for eg- long shots, close ups, nothing too complicated.
it isnt particularly 'professional' looking by the way the camera shakes- obviously filmed hand held, but the actors are the main focus, they are that good that you don't know whether it has been slowed down on editing software, even though saying that i do find the reactions of the peoples faces are a bit over the top, but if i was to speed it up myself they would probably look normal.
this video is an abstract, yet fun out of the ordinary idea. the music builds up tension, because you don't know how the man with the coffee on his nose is going to react, you probably wouldn't think he would have reacted in that way.
I did enjoy the video because it was a novel idea and it is unique in its own way, not many people would think of producing this sort of idea.
Anger!...fake slow motion weekend project from Venechor on Vimeo.
This video didn't really flow, it seems as if it was filmed in a music video style. It is quite complicated in the way there isn't a background story (why is this man angry? what has caused him to react in sort a way?) like the contrasting weekend project- Sam Morrill (above).
It starts off with a man raising his head with a hat on, which seems to have no relevance what so ever with this short film. There is also someone writing anger with a quill between other irrelevant shots of him smashing up mirrors with a sledge hammer, this probably gives it a music video vibe because even though it is meant to be a slo-mo it flicks from one shot to the other in time with the music.
It also looks as if it has been slowed down via editing, even though it would be possible to do this in the filming process, i don't think this person has really got the point of the 'faux slo-mo' effect.
