My Horror Film
As you can probably tell this film doesn't exactly fit to the brief of 3-5 mins film of my genre, horror.
It took me a long time to come up with an idea that would sort of fit the brief, and that cut my filming time down to half. When i came to edit my footage i found that i didn't have enough, so i had to work with what i had.
I wanted to also put a voice over into my film, but due to timing, i didn't have enough time on the day to actually edit my voice over and so forth.
I want to explain my video to you, because it probably isn't clear what is going on, due to it being in a sort of music video form:
A guy is asleep and is dreaming, he is running through the forest and falls over, this brings him back to real life in a flash. He is unable to move, he is in a state of sleep paralysis.
The guy sees a shadow on the ceiling, but is unable to move or shout, the shadow approaches him and the guy finds himself being strangled, this flashes back to the dream where he is in a bath, he drowns in the bath whilst in real life he is being killed by the evil presence, it flashes back to the guy in the forest, he is also dead there too... at the end of the film he wakes up in the bath, was that the real life and him being strangled by the evil presence a dream?
Its yours to play with in your mind.
I feel that it would've been more of a film, and more obvious with the voice over but this wasn't possible, due to the deadline fastly approaching.
Even though it wasn't to the brief i feel as if the work i have done in this film, with the shots colour grading etc, was good and i am pleased with this short vid, i feel that i will work more on it in the future in my own time.

Film Ideas
Bath Scene

I have read a few books about dreams (Miller 1983) and if you dream of a warm bath, it signifies evil, that is why i wanted to incorporate a bath scene into my film. I wanted to also add an element of danger into my film, that of drowning the main character in evil.
A few of the horror films that i have looked at for my research have bath scenes too, Jacobs Ladder (1990), Awake (2007) and A nightmare on elm street (2010), This recurring theme throughout these horror films give them a feel of danger.
Music
In your house- The Cure (1985)- I have decided to use this song for my horror film because i feel that it ties in with the theme of the devil playing with the main characters mind within my film, the lyrics 'i play at night, in your house' this is representing the devil or strange creature playing with the main character. Also it is at night- the character is trying to sleep.
Dream
The films that i have researched into for inspiration for my own film have also got a dream theme running through them, A nightmare on elm street (2010) is mainly based around a dream theme, as the main character Freddy Kruger visits them in their dreams.
Awake (2007) not an obvious dream theme running through it, but the character is in a state of 'sleep paralysis', due to the patient not responding to the anaesthetic.
